Roaches have been on this earth for more the 2 million years. They have survived everything the environment and man has thrown at them. They do not create disease but they are a carrier of it. There has been over 72 types of bacteria on their feet.
They have been linked to the spread of disease like Salmonellas and Dysentery and cause havoc to asthmatics. They can fit into the smallest of cracks and they do not have control over their bodily functions..... they Go where ever they go, if you know what I mean.
Roaches are more prevalent in the multi-family industry then they are in restaurants in the Northwest. I have been treating units for roaches for almost 20 years now. I have seen populations of these pests range from a few to thousands in one unit alone. I have seen the materials for treating roaches change over 15 times in that same period. Just as we would find a product that worked well, they would stop making it or the roaches would become immune to it. Roach treatments have been very frustrating in the past.
Cooperation was the #1 reason why there was failure in the application for Roaches. We use to make the resident prepare for the treatments by removing all of their items from the cupboards and leaving the unit for a few hours. We never got 100% cooperation and could not properly treat the infestation and the population would return. My industry then switched to baits. These worked for a short time then the Roaches became bait shy and the control stopped.
